I am proof that we are all by nature resilient. I must have gotten loose one day (the man about town that I am) and got lost. I was lost for so long that I matted my fur so badly that it was rock hard in many areas. I also had fleas and was very thin from needing food.
I got hit by something and got two broken ribs and somehow lost an eye. I ended up in a shelter in Turlock where they where going to put me to sleep. But I was saved - Wonder Dog Rescue - got me. Soon I was adopted by AVACA and from the moment I came I was loving and playful even though a lot had happened in my life; its not in my nature to suffer. My new family got my fur cut, I was flea dipped and they fed me and loved me back to health; I’m a big dog now.
They bought me blankets, beds and toys, and if you look at the pictures below you will see my before-and-after pictures. Then they introduced me to the clients. People - my favorite thing!!! I was so happy to meet them. Everyone learned about my journey; they said that after all that I had been through I still have a wonderful spirit inside and a love for life that has never been touched. And that’s how I got my name ... Spirit.
Now I get to show others that we can all heal and find the joy for living again. We never know what the next day will bring. I love being with people and am a wonderful Therapy Dog now. I love my life!!!
